NBA Sports Betting Glossary (A-Z)
Essential sports betting terms, acronyms, and wagering concepts defined for basketball fans in the Philippines.
Against The Spread (ATS)
Refers to a team's win/loss record when evaluated against the point spread handicap line rather than raw straight-up wins.
Closing Line Value (CLV)
A metric comparing the odds you locked in against the final odds before tip-off. Consistently beating the closing line indicates sharp wagering.
Juice / Vig (Vigorish)
The commission charged by the sportsbook for accepting a wager. Typically represented as standard 1.91 (-110) pricing on two-sided spread markets.
Moneyline
A straight bet on which team will win the game outright, regardless of point margin.
Point Spread
A handicap assigned by oddsmakers to equalize a matchup between a favorite (e.g. -6.5) and an underdog (+6.5).
Push
A tie between the bettor and sportsbook (e.g., a team favored by -5 wins by exactly 5 points). In a push, the original stake is refunded.
Same Game Parlay (SGP)
A multi-leg wager combining spread, totals, and player props from a single NBA game into a single slip.
