How NBA Odds Calculations Work
In the Philippines, sportsbooks commonly display NBA odds in Decimal format (e.g., 1.91) or American format (e.g., -110). Understanding how both formulas operate helps you evaluate payout structures instantly.
1. Decimal Odds Formula
Decimal odds represent total return per unit staked (including your original stake).
Total Payout = Stake × Decimal Odds
Net Profit = Stake × (Decimal Odds - 1)
Implied Probability = (1 / Decimal Odds) × 100%
Net Profit = Stake × (Decimal Odds - 1)
Implied Probability = (1 / Decimal Odds) × 100%
2. American Odds Formula
Negative odds (-110) indicate the amount needed to wager to win ₱100 profit. Positive odds (+150) indicate the profit earned on a ₱100 wager.
Positive (+150): Decimal = (American / 100) + 1 = (150/100) + 1 = 2.50
Negative (-110): Decimal = (100 / |American|) + 1 = (100/110) + 1 = 1.91
Negative (-110): Decimal = (100 / |American|) + 1 = (100/110) + 1 = 1.91
